Gosainkunda Holy Lake Trek is a very famous trek in the Langtang region. Gosainkunda Lake situated at the altitude of 4,380m. The Lake that freezes during the winter and melts to form a source of Trisuli River during the summer. Gosainkunda is a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists.
The trek starts from Dhunche and ends at Sundarijal. This 12 days Gosainkunda Holy Lake trekking trail takes you to different natural and cultural attractions of the Langtang region, that offer a perfect blend of diverse cultural harmony and natural beauty. Trekkers can enjoy the view of the majestic peaks of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal.
Moreover, Yak Cheese factory – managed by local people at Chandanbari, sunset and sunrise view of Langtang and Ganesh Himal from Lauribinayak, Rhododendron and Pine forest featuring rare species of flora and fauna, monasteries and temples are some of the major attractions of the Gosainkunda trek.
March to May and September to December are the best months to plan Gosainkunda Trek. However, planning your trek during the Janai Purnima festival in the month of August gives you the extra benefit of enjoying the festival along with Hindu devotees from Nepal and India. But at that time it’s quite hard to get a room in lodges. The maximum height achieved during the trek is 4,610m (Lauribina Pass); therefore, this trekking to Gosainkunda Lake can be planned by any healthy and physically fit person ready to conquer the altitude.

However, if you are looking for shorter or longer Langtang region treks, then you can try including Langtang Valley Trek if you want longer and you can try just Langtang Valley for shorter.
The accommodation is arranged in a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu and local guesthouses and lodges during the trek. The package price also includes a full board meal during the trek. The journey starts with a 6 to 7 hours jeep ride to Dhunche. The actual trek starts from Dhunche and continues till Sundarijal that finally ends with an hour bus ride to Kathmandu.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu (TIA), our representative from Hillstrek will be there to pick you up. You will be transfer to hotel in half an hour drive with private vehicle. We discuss about our trip and you have time for refreshment. In the evening we are together again for welcome dinner in typical nepalese restaurant with cultural program.
After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up for half day sightseeing in Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa. You will have your lunch in the restaurant with the view of Stupa then you back to hotel. You will meet your trek leader and discuss about the trek and do last minutes arrangements.
Today, you are driving to Dhunche after breakfast; it takes 5-6 hours. You will drive by Public bus or Toyota Land Cruiser; it depends on your group size. It’s the first night in Mountain, Overnight at guest house
The trek begins from Dhunche after breakfast, the trail gently up to the river side and it goes step up till Deurali. The trail goes snaky up to the army camp and it goes again step up to Sing gompa/Chandanbari. It is quiet tough day for the first day trek. In Sing gompa there is cheese factory where you explore local way to make cheese. Also there is monastery made of wood that’s why the place is called Sing gompa.
This day is a shortest trekking day of the trip, it goes just gently up to Cholangpati through the forest of rhododendron and pine trees. After here, the trail goes slightly step up to Lauribinayak. This place is the best view point for Langtang himal,Ganesh himalayan range on the top and green forest just on bottom.
With a steep ascent all the way to Gosaikunda. You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views to the Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north also across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lake of Gosaikunda. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda and Gosainkunda.
This day, the trail leaves Gosaikund and climbs through rugged country, past four small lakes to the Laurebina La (4610meters), the highest point of this trek. Keep looking back at the spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the familiar Langtang Lirung. You then step down quiet long to Fedi and gradually up and down to Gopte.
The trek begin with gently up on stony path to Tharepati which is also an excellent place for view point of some nepalese and tibetan mountains. Trail goes all the way down through the forest to Kutumsang via Magingoth
The day begins with the view of Ganesh Himal range and Langtang. We Trek gradually up and down to get Golphu Bhanjyang and then again we walk little bit up and then steep down to get Patibhanjyang via Chipling. The Trail goes gradually up and down through pine forest to get Chisapani.
This is the last day of the trek and we walk through the Shivapuri national park. Climbing up to the top of national park will take about 2 hours and the downhill to the Sundarijal also take similar time. There will be your private transport waiting you to pick you up to hotel.
We will transfer you to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination. You must leave hotel 3 hours earlier than your scheduled flight time.
