Duration: 8 Days
This is one of the most popular short treks in Nepal. The trail ascends through the culturally and naturally rich Gurung and Magar villages popularly known as the village of the Brave Gurkhas.
The rhododendron and the deep pine forest give you the essence of the nature walk. The view from Poon Hill after a short hike from Ghorepani is the auspicious part of this trek. One can experience the beautiful view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range along with their 8000+ meter peaks.
The massive and pristine Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri and the view of the Manaslu range are the most spectacular aspects of this trek. The range of green hills seen from Poon Hill can also be symbolized as an outstanding painting of a world-class artist.

You then leave the river and follow a trail along the upper edge of terraced fields through Hile to Tikhedhunga. Thereafter, you cross a stream beyond the village and then drop down to the suspension bridge over the Bhurungdi Khola. Then you climb a long, steep and seemingly endless stone staircase, which eventually leads you to the village of Ulleri. Overnight at Ulleri
As you ascend along the path that leads to a forest, you will find Annapurna South, hidden by a ridge. Beyond Banthanti, there are magnificent forests of oak and rhododendron trees. After crossing several crystal-clear mountain streams, you arrive at the village of Nangethanti. Another few hours of trekking through the forest, you reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani literally means “horse water” and is a popular watering spot for mules, which supply this route from Pokhara to Jomsom and beyond.
To catch the sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,210m), the most popular trekking destination of the Annapurna region. It is also a great viewpoint to enjoy the amazing views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the high mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light. After taking photographs, we return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forests, pass by spectacular waterfalls and reach Tadapani to spend the night.
The trek from Tadapani until Ghandruk will be through a thick forest of rhododendron trees.
